  1. when i first introduced my Soldiers to CrossFit, they whined that it was a mandatory 5 days per week if they were going to commit. yesterday after the CF challenge, i told them they have the next day off and they whined. =) so we agreed to a sprint workout and they added a weighted vest. LOVE IT!!!!!

    • so do I….tell em to move to ATL and join RX 🙂

      • one is from ATL and is sold. =) He lives by 5 points, so he is geeked to join!

  2. Did the SP 1 RM from yesterday got to 80# (PR 90) but didn’t want to push the shoulder too much.

    Then did a 20 min AMRAP of 400 M run then 1 round of Cindy. Shoulder held up well. 3 rds + 400 M + 1 pullup.

  3. I want to share something I experienced last week with CFRX, the Emory/Georgia Tech Predictive Health INstitute –

Particularly because everyone seems so data driven and motivated to measure progress at CFRX and in the CF community, we should all be measuring not just athletic performance but also our overall health, and this center has the tools and resources to do it. I’ll try to bring in some of their materials and share some of the results they have provided like my DEXA scan that does actual measurements of bone mass, muscle mass, fatty tisue and other weights based on a full body scan – really cool!

Sorry to geak out on y’all but I can just sense that this kind of stuff will apeal to some of you – and definitely to the larger CF community. Anyone know how to get them interested in this kind of stuff? Would love to see some scientific measures and data on the overall health status of crossfitters – suspect we will be in the super healthy category, and could prove it with science.

    Best – Jack

    • Thats KILLER!! I want to know all that stuff 🙂 Keep us posted for sure!!

    • Does sound interesting, Jack, and apparently HQ is on that path of gathering data. Recent CrossFit Journal article (May “The Purpose of CrossFit” says:
“CrossFit HQ has begun a massive endeavor to collect a wide variety of relevant health, fitness and business metrics through the affiliates and the global community. That data will be analyzed by scientists and physicians who will be looking to find best practices by answering this question:’Which of these things is causal, which is correlative?'”

      • I’m in the preventitive health study at this institute. I had all of my baseline measurements last October shortly after I had switch to primarily paleo eating. I go back at the end of June. It will be fun to see what things look like now. I think I will have all of the studies/tests done 1-2x per year for 5 years.

        • If you’re comfortable, please let us know your results. Personally, I’m debating on switching to paleo and any positive results can help sway me to maintain Paleo eating!

  4. I’d love to see / learn more about the health and nutrition tools.
