HQ Rest Day

“The Top Ten Fasting/Diet Myths Debunked”
courtesy of

Everyone who learns about nutrition through the usual channels, be it fitness magazines, mainstream diet books and forums, gets cursed with the prevailing belief system of what constitutes a good diet.

Though specific dietary recommendations vary slightly depending on who you listen to, there are many common denominators and “rules” that you are told you must adhere to. Call it broscience, incompetence or ignorance, same thing. We’ve all been there and we’ve all followed these rules. Led like sheep, not knowing better. Trusting that those we listen to knew what they were talking about. While these dietary myths run rampant in the bodybuilding and fitness community, you’ll find that many are being endlessly propagated in the mainstream as well.

Upon closer scrutiny, the great majority lack scientific basis. They are born out out of half-truths, faulty conclusions drawn from poorly conducted studies or created when a study gets cited out of context. [keep reading]

  1. Made up Monday’s WOD:

    3 rounds
    30 KBS (35#)
    25 Wallball (12#)
    20 Pullups

Pullups are SO SLOW (did most 1 at a time with very few 2s or 3s scattered in). As Damon said, only way to get better is to keep doing them… dammit!

Nice doing this with the ladies this morning while Zeke kicked butt doing something else! 🙂

    • Yea, 530am had perfect attendance minus one today…on a rest day!
And yes, Zeke destroyed that workout….just silly!

  2. Damon made up a modified version of “Nicole” today so I could try doing unassisted pullups in a workout.

    20 minute AMRAP:
    Run 250 meters
    5 pullups

7 rounds…plus a couple more weak pullups. I’m excited that I finally did them in a workout though! 🙂

    • OMG PAIGE THAT’S AWESOME!!! I’m jealous!

      • Thanks Terri–hey, afterward, Damon was talking about YOU and how you will be doing these soon!

        • PS. Really!

        • I hope so!! That would be so great. Sigh.

    • Congrats!

      • yay! great job 😉

    • Yes! 35 officially official pull ups!
Gr8 job on them, but the CTB practice must continue 🙂

    • getting off the band is HUGE! Great achievement!! 🙂

    • Congrats, Paige! That’s a MAJOR milestone!

    • Impressive!! You clearly figured out the equation to go from just getting them to doing 35 in a WOD!!
      Major Congrats!!

  3. Damon configured a wod for me this morning:

    5 rounds for time of:
    4 clean and jerks (154#)
    6 muscle ups

    • I don’t know how you keep doing the MU’s after your arms are taxed with something else. That’s pretty fast though!!

    • Strong little people…sick to watch

  4. RAD kids crushed the “Minute of Doom” today–ALL PR’s & great ROM throughout. & they all still had energy left to play crab soccer!! inspirational. period.

…:-) i challenge any daring CF Rx’ers to give the minute a go & see if you can match the kiddos…with a continuous clock, do 1 squat + 1 broad jump + 1 pushup (game standard) in the first minute, 2 of each in the second, and so on…

    • It was cool to see how much each one of them improved!

  5. Did yesterday’s Rx – 5 rounds

Please don’t let me take a 20 day ‘hiatus’ no matter the excuse again! :)!!!

  6. I thought about the makeup WODs all day but couldn’t make it in time due to traffic. Don’t get it twisted; don’t think I’m slacking!! Coming from Duluth, leaving work at 5pm is hit or miss sometimes. 🙂

  7. Ran an easy 5K and it felt great. 26:41
